The methodology to my madness.
My approach comes from a social constructionist lens. This means that I value each person’s reality and view it as their truth. Everyone has their own reality which is socially constructed by their relationships, gender, race and beliefs. I will actively listen to people’s stories and work collaboratively with them towards their hopes.
Within the social constructionist world, I draw from Narrative and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also work within Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Expressive Therapies with adults, and Play Therapy with children aged 5-12. The level to which I integrate these styles of therapy is determined by the client and their needs.
My counselling style suits a range of people including; CALD backgrounds, LGBTQIA+, Neurodiverse folk and people who have experienced trauma.
